PUBLIC NOTICES
PRESS RELEASE: 31 AUGUST 2010

Challenges are being experienced by the Emalahleni Local Municipality in rendering an effective refuse removal service. A sufficient number of vehicles are not available currently to provide services in all sections of Emalahleni due to constant breakdowns of these trucks. This constant breakdown is attributed to a number of factors which the municipality is busy trying to address internally and permanently for that matter.
In the short-term Council is in the process of having all available trucks repaired. As soon as all the broken down refuse trucks are functional, service delivery will continue as usual.
The Emalahleni Local municipality apologises for the inconvenience experienced by the public and businesses.
In areas where refuse is not collected as scheduled, it is requested that refuse bags be held back until the next scheduled removal day. It would be grately appreciated if residents take back the refuse bags into their yards at around 6 p.m. and/or as soon as they realise that no collection would be done on that day.
Residents are also requested to refrain from dumping illegally and further advised that the current problems are just temporary and will be addressed soon, therefore resorting to dumping illegally will only make the situation worse. “Said Lebohang Mofokeng”
