PUBLIC NOTICES

  • NOTICE of bulk electricity interruption.

Dated:: 22/04/2015 :: Emalahleni-With reference to the notice of bulk electricity interruption and recent announcements by Eskom , Emalahleni Local Municipality would want to reassure its community that it has intensified its discussions with Eskom to avert this from happening. The Municipality has progressively been under strain to settle its Eskom accounts . The main underlying reasons for this has been the non – payment of consumer accounts by residents, Government departments and businesses amounting to a sum of approximately R 1.5 billion. Illegal connections are also a huge contributory factor. The Municipality has intensified its efforts to rectify the situation and bring the account to order. All our residents, businesses and sister government departments are urged to assist the Municipality by paying their consumer accounts and making arrangements with the Municipality for any arrears. Failure to increase the cash flow of the Municipality in order to settle the debt of Eskom would result in a situation that is untenable for us all.
