Fellow citizens, on behalf of Emalahleni Local Municipality leadership collective, we would like to wish you and your loved ones a safe festive season and prosperity in the New Year.
We look forward to 2020 with optimism for it is a year of consolidating and advancing the social and economic development commitments presented by the administration ushered in by the “new dawn”.
It is time to take a short break after a long and productive year to reconnect with your families, friends, and neighbours underpinned by love and the spirit of caring, sharing and opening our to with those who may be less fortunate.
We also note with appreciation to the families who might have had new additions but on the same breath our prayers go to those who have lost their loved ones and their valuable possessions under different and unfortunate conditions.
Whatever our circumstances are, the festive season provides us with an opportunity to intensify the gospel of love, unity and peace because we must always remember that there is far more that unites us as oppose to what divides us.
The restoration of our shared vision of becoming a centre of excellence in delivering basic services to our communities is not a solo endeavour, it requires all of us to hold hands with unity and purpose.
Finally, safety is our number one priority! To those who will be travelling over the holidays, drive safely, take enough breaks, and ensure the vehicle you are using is road worthy, Don’t Drink and Drive! Don’t Drink and Walk in the streets, step up security measures in your homes including neighbourhood watch.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all our residents including Corporate Citizens.
Cllr. Linah Malatjie | Executive Mayor
