The Executive Mayor, Linah Malatjie, is making a special plea to the business community to dig deeper into their pockets and donate to the poor.

Since she donated   furniture to various households, the office of the Executive Mayor has been inundated with calls from distressed poor families.

Malatjie applauded Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Africa for donating furniture which was handed over to families in anguish.

“We need more companies to partner with the Municipality to change the lives of poor communities. It is not only about donating food parcels, but there is a huge need for shelter, furniture, clothes and other basic human necessities,” she pleaded.

Since her appointment as the Executive Mayor, Malatjie has been on a sustained period of unrestrained giving to the disenfranchised.

“The municipality cannot on its own lessen the daily hardship and suffering of thousands of unemployed people, child headed families and the disabled, who ordinarily cannot fend   for themselves.”

“That is one of the reasons that I commend Hitachi for assisting the municipality with furniture   which we took to family who literally had nothing in their houses,” she concluded.

Hitachi has committed to continue  partnering  with the Municipality and donate furniture to the needy depending on the availability of resources..
