YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS AND PROGRAMMES WITHIN THE 2016/17 FINANCIAL YEAR

 PROJECT / PROGRAMME  COMMENTS
 MAYORAL BUSARY  
  • 16 students were identified to be part of this bursary programme and out of the initial 16 students only 7 of them are still part of the bursary programme.
  • The 10 students that are no longer part of the programme were removed because of the following reasons;i A different bursary scheme took over their studies.
They failed their courses         and one of the bursary conditions is that if you fail, you are removed immediately.
 MAYORAL BURSARY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE  
  • This part of the bursary scheme was created to assist all the students who do not need a full bursary but require financial assistance to pay for their fees.
  • 16 students have received financial assistance through this part of the bursary fund.
 RAND WATER WAR ON LEAKS
  • 95 candidates applied to form part of the learnership.
  • 25 of 95 candidates that had applied for the learnership were found to be eMalahleni residents.
The 25 candidates that have been placed within the Municipality are still part of the programme.
 MISA LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME
  • Three graduates were placed within the Municipality to take part in the programme.
  • An M.O.U was drafted between MISA and the Municipality.
 YOUTH BRIGADE CONSTRUCTION PROGRAMME
  • The Department Of Human Settlements and The National Home Builders Registration Council has partnered with The National Youth Development Agency and Emalahleni Local Municipality to train youth candidates in a construction programme.
  • 45 candidates were placed in the programme
 AVRAZ HIGHVELD STEEL AND VANADIUM LIMITED
  • Bricklaying Artisan development programme to be trained by M2 ENGINERING ACADEMY
  • 40 bricklayers were recruited
 

THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, NKANGALA DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY AND MRTT

20 Students were recruited and are still part of the FET PLUMBING NQF LEVEL 4 training programme. 
 THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS : NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE RENOVATION AT WITBANK MAGISTRATE COURT 13 Young people were recruited to form part of the repair and renovations of the eMalahleni Magistrates Court. 
 SOUTH 32 – MACHINE OPERATORS
  •  
30 Students were inducted in a programme to up skill and empower young people with Heavy Machinery Operating Skills.
SOUTH 32 - TECHNICAL SKILLS PROGAMME
  • 25 learners have been taken to study a trade of their choice from NQF level 1 to NQF level 3 at an an accredited college within eMalahleni
GLENCORE – DRIVERS LISCENCE PROGRAMME
  • 20 Young people have been considered for the programme.
