DLALA INDIMA YAKHO! “PLAY YOUR PART” TO ADVANCE GENDER EQUALITY
The Leadership Collective of Emalahleni Local Municipality wishes to take a solemnly bow as South Africa pays homage to all the courageous women who staged the historic 1956 March to the union buildings in Pretoria to protest against the brutal apartheid system in general which forced us to carry “passports” as we move from one village to another in the land of our forefathers.
It will be amiss of us, if we do not equally salute all women military veterans, guerrilla girls and combative mothers who fought fiercely battles in harsh masculine environment and emerged victorious against the male dominated heavily funded apartheid defence force.
The significance of August’s month underlines the ultimate commitment and sacrifice by women of this country as we commemorate our national liberation heritage.
The constitutional democracy in South Africa seeks to dismantle into oblivion patriarchal society wherein male folks regard themselves as ordained prominent rulers over women.
Indeed, it is with immense pride and gratitude that we honour extraordinary achievements and unwavering strength of women in the length and breadth of Emalahleni Local Municipality under the theme “celebrating 30 years of Democracy towards women’s development” which says to us, the celebration of women’s month will be meaningless without accelerating Women’s Empowerment Agenda because if you empower a woman you empower community.
Drawing Madiba’s wisdom “It is a daughter of a domestic worker who will become a president of a great nation one day”
All women to remember that “no one makes you inferior without your consent”.
DLALA INDIMA YAKHO!
PLAY YOUR PART!
AS WE SAY DOWN! With all forms of women and children abuse down!

HAPPY WOMEN’S MONTH
