MEDIA STATEMENT :: EMALAHLENI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY NON-COLLECTION OF REFUSE DUE TO HEAVY RAINS

The municipality’s environmental and waste management department wishes to inform residents that the recent heavy rains have led to the non collection of refuse and waste in most of the areas in the municipality.

Due to this consistent  and continuous rainfall our collection teams have been unable to safely navigate the streets. We understand the importance of proper refuse disposal and appreciate your patience during this challenging time.

The healthy environment of our community is our key priority and we are closely monitoring the weather conditions. We are committed to resuming regular collection as soon as conditions permits us to continue with the collection.

To ensure that all refuse is collected, we encourage residents to hold on to their waste until services resume. In the meantime, we advise everyone to take necessary precautions to manage their household refuse and excess waste.

We will continue to provide regular updates through our website and municipal facebook page regarding the resumption of normal refuse collection schedules.

For immediate concerns or questions, please contact our Call Centre number at 013 690 6222/333/44.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
