NOTICE: PAVEMENT FAILURES WITHIN THE CARRIAGEWAY OF THE SOUTH BOUND SLOW LANE AT SCHOONLAND DRIVE / MOSES KOTANE

The municipality hereby informs the community of a portion of a road in Moses Kotane / Schoonland Drive, that has been washed away due to inclement weather conditions which took place on the 11th December 2023.

The municipal team conducted a visual assessment to determine the nature and extent of the defects to derive a reinstatement strategy and commence with the repairs.
Moreover the road is still under the Defects Liability Period.

Communication with the donor mine and the engineers on the project was established and there were agreements made on the reinstatement of the road.

However, due to the commencement of the builder’s holidays, the repairs and reinstatement could not be undertaken within the desired period due to Asphalt Manufacturing Plants not operating during the period.

The area with defects has been barricaded to be safe and the repair work shall continue in January 2024.

Constant communication with the donor mine is underway.

It is against the above background that motorists, pedestrians and road users are urged to be patient and accommodative of each other to avoid road rage and possible incidents by planning their travelling arrangements.

Therefore, alternative routes within Emalahleni can be used to access and traversing to different destination within KwaGuqa Location.

Emalahleni Local Municipality apologizes for any inconvenience caused especially during this period of the month, whereby traffic volumes have increased.

The repair work will be expedited.
