Background to the public engagement notice
Climate science research studies and the visible changes in weather patterns are a clear demonstration of the uncertain times we are currently living in. Scarcity of water in some parts of the country, unstoppable veld fires, floods and heavy storm weather conditions, to name a few, are some of the climatic events which creates this uncertainty. These climatic events are attributed to the changes in climatic conditions. In an attempt to respond to the devastating impacts of climate change, the Emalahleni Local Municipality has developed a Climate Change Response Strategy which provides a framework of integrating climate change response in localised sector plans and responses.
