“Workers across all economic sectors of Emalahleni Local Municipality Unite!.”
Emalahleni Local municipality and its residents would like to join the rest of the world in honoring and paying tribute to all the workers across the globe for their contribution in advancing Social, Political, and Economic justice anchored on Universal Human Rights.
As we commemorate May 1st , there is a need to remind one another that, in the South African context of which Emalahleni is part of, the workers’ class did not only fight for the interests of workers but progressive Trade Unions were also an integral part of a coherent catalytic motive force in our national Liberation struggle.
Today we are commemorating the Solidarity, Unity, Courage, Sacrifices, and the pivotal role played by labour movement to render colonial apartheid South Africa ungovernable.
Today we are celebrating the Victories of the workers against all forms of Exploitations, we could still hear the voices of the workers vibrating in unison from the corridors of the factories and deep down in the bellies of the mine shafts with clear demands, DOWN WITH CAPITALISM DOWN! DOWN WITH IMPERIALISM DOWN! DOWN WITH COLONIALISM DOWN!
I CALL UPON ALL CORPORATE CITIZENS OF OUR MUNICIPALITY TO RESPECT NOT ONLY SECTORIAL COLLECTIVE AGGREMENTS, BUT ALSO PROTECT THE DIGNITY OF THE WORKERS.
LET US WORK TOGETHER TO CHANGE THE STRUCTURE OF THE ECONOMY, BECAUSE THE OWNERSHIP OF THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION REMAINS THE HISTORICAL CENTRAL DEMAND OF THE WORKING CLASS.
