Administration

The Municipal Manager, senior administration and the directorates that deliver services every day.

How the administration works

Turning council decisions into services

While the Council sets policy and adopts the budget, the administration carries the work out. The Municipal Manager is the accounting officer of the municipality and head of the administration, supported by executive directors who each lead a directorate.

Every directorate is responsible for a portfolio of services — from keeping the lights on and the water running to planning the city's growth and managing its finances in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act.
