Emalahleni Local Municipality, Office of the Executive Mayor offers Financial Assistance to qualifying applicants from historically disadvantaged backgrounds within the jurisdiction of the Municipality wishing to undertake full time undergraduate studies at any public South African University or FET College. Â

CONDITIONS
Only South African Citizens residing in the jurisdiction Emalahleni Local Municipality who intend on pursuing undergraduate studies at a public Institution of Higher learning are legible to apply.
The applicant must have proven financial need as determined by the household threshold.
Applications with incorrect or incomplete information will lead to your application being disqualified.
The following qualifications will be prioritized: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Analytical Chemistry, Horticulture, Microbiology, Environmental Management, Water and Sanitation and Disaster Management.
Qualifying applicants will be expected to enter into an agreement with the Emalahleni Local Municipality.
Applicants should be between the ages of 18 to 35 years.
All applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
STUDY FIELDS
The following qualifications will be prioritized: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Analytical Chemistry, Horticulture, Microbiology, Environmental Management, Law, Water and Sanitation, Disaster Management and Developmental Studies. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Certified Copy of South African Identity Document.
Certified copy of latest progress report if you are in grade 12
Certified copy of statement of Results if you have completed grade 12
Certified copy of academic record if you are currently in your second or third year in an Institution of Higher learning
Certified copies of achievements / merit certificates.
Proof of Residence
Proof of Financial need (payslips or affidavit stating financial need)
Provisional acceptance letter from an Institution of Higher learning (South African Public University or TVET College)
Application form should be completed in full

The Municipality is under no obligation to award the financial assistance to any applicant.

Applicants should use the Emalahleni Local Municipality prescribed application form.
The Emalahleni Local Municipality External Bursary cannot be used to cover pre-existing loans or historical debt.
