The Executive Mayor of Emalahleni Local Municipality Cllr Vusi Nhlapho today announced a reshuffle of two members of Mayoral Committee, effective immediately.
This decision follows a series of formal consultations and correspondences between the Office of the Executive Mayor and the relevant structures.
In terms of Section 60 of the Municipal Structures Act, the Executive Mayor has the prerogative to appoint members of the Mayoral Committee to ensure stability, accountability and effective service delivery.
Being a member of the Mayoral Committee is a privilege that demands collective accountability, loyalty to the governing programme, and undivided commitment to the residents of Emalahleni.
Accordingly, the Executive Mayor has taken the following decisions:
- Both Cllr K. B Maphosa, MMC for Waste and Environment, and Cllr S. S Buthelezi have been removed from the Mayoral Committee with immediate effect. We thank them for their service during their tenure.
- The new Mayoral Committee is therefore constituted as follows:
- Cllr B. H Maseko — MMC for Corporate Services
- Cllr T. T Mathebula — MMC for Technical Services
- Cllr N. H Mokwana — MMC for Waste and Environment
- Cllr T. C Shabalala — MMC for Development Planning and Special Planning
- Cllr L. M Tolo — MMC for Community Services
- Cllr FS Khumalo — MMC for Finance
The Executive Mayor reiterates that this reshuffle is not about politics, but about stability and accelerating service delivery. The Executive Mayor assures the residents of Emalahleni of continuous provision of basic services and that work must continue without distraction.
