The Emalahleni Local Municipality would like to once again warn members of the public about individuals who are illegally selling RDP houses and municipal stands, particularly in the Siyanqoba area.
Residents are advised that the sale or purchase of government subsidised (RDP) houses and municipal land through private individuals is unlawful.Â
The allocation of RDP houses is done strictly through approved government processes and the official housing database.
The Municipality also wishes to remind residents that the unlawful occupation of municipal land (land invasion) and the illegal sale of municipal stands are criminal offences in terms of the Municipal Management and Control of Informal Settlements and Land Invasion By-Law.
Members of the public are urged not to pay money to anyone claiming they can sell or secure an RDP house or municipal stand, as these are often scams.
